How is it Made?
Recreating the realistic motion of a skier required breaking down complex physics into frame-by-frame data points. To achieve a seamless, infinite loop, I divided the entire carving cycle into 12 precise stops, calculating the exact relationship between the tilt of the cup and the angle of the chopstick “skis” for every frame. The accompanying diagram illustrates this framework, mapping the skier’s body lean (green lines) against the tracking angle of the skis on the snow (black arrows).
Since I was looking at it as the camera is moving with our skiing Cup Noodle, I had to map all the positions on a single horizontal line, so the skiing cup stays in the middle of the frame.
Noodle tracks and snow effect was added in After Effects.
